Wellington Zoo is host to one of the most famous kiwi around. Tahi lost one of his legs after it was caught in a trap. News of his accident and artificial leg was reported all over the world. You can read what the BBC wrote about it here.
I'm sure I read that Tahi no longer uses his artificial leg, but I've not been able to find that information again today. Perhaps you could do some research and see if I'm right.
Tahi doesn't use his artificial leg anymore because his keepers noticed he was more comfortable without it.
